COLUMBUS, Ind. – Columbus East High School (CEHS) has named Science Teacher Derek Chastain as its 2023/2024 Teacher of the Year.
CEHS officials stated, “Mr. Chastain embodies the essence of our identity as East High School Olympians, and we are delighted to honor him in this manner.”
As part of the Indiana Teacher of the Year program, Bartholomew County School Corporation (BCSC) engages in a selection process where each school within BCSC nominates a Teacher of the Year.
These chosen teachers then vie for the district-wide BCSC Teacher of the Year title.
The selection process involves input from community members, students, and staff who submit nominations for their preferred candidates.
