COLUMBUS, Ind. – Lucabe Coffee Co. in Columbus has announced that the Indiana Historic Preservation Board recently approved its Eastbrook Plaza location, formerly Irwin Union Bank, for listing the historic building in the National Register of Historic Places.
The local coffee company has been going through this process for the last couple of years. The recognition is the culmination of their rehabilitation of the bank building back to its Mid-Century Modern roots. It was originally designed by the famous Chicago architect, Harry Weese.
The owners said, “Many thanks to all those who have supported our process all along the way to help preserve a part of what makes Columbus such a special place to live and work.”
Lucabe Coffee Co. also has a location in downtown Columbus on 4th Street, between Jackson and Washington Streets.
