COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Police Department (CPD) has announced that its newest officer, Allen Cummings (CPD 306), was sworn in by Mayor Mary Ferdon at the Board of Public Works and Safety meeting on Tuesday morning.
Cummings has lived in Columbus most of his life and attended Columbus North High School before joining the U.S. Army.
While in the Army, he was a combat medic specialist and tank maintainer. After six years of active duty, Cummings moved back to Columbus with his family and continues to serve as a military police officer in the Army Reserves.
Over the next few weeks, he will undergo training with CPD instructors before going to the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in May.
