INDIANAPOLIS – The Columbus and Bartholomew County Citizen Alert System says there are Flood Warnings for today, Thursday, April 3, until 3:36 p.m. for Haw Creek in Columbus near Clifford and Youngs Creek in Amity.
Minor to moderate flooding is expected to continue into the weekend following additional moderate to heavy rainfall this week.
Flood stage for Haw Creek is 12 feet. At 12.5 feet, Rocky Ford Road, just west of Marr Road, closes because of flooding. Rocky Ford Road floods on the west side of the bridge. The Columbus People Trail was also flooded.
County Road 450N, just outside of the City of Columbus, is closed according to the Columbus Flood Response Plan. On Thursday at 6:30 a.m., Haw Creek was at 12.8 feet.
The creek is expected to fall below flood stage late Thursday morning, continue falling, and remain below flood stage.
