COLUMBUS, Ind. – During July, the Columbus Parks and Recreation Department and Columbus Park Foundation celebrate “Parks and Recreation Month. Columbus is stronger, more vibrant, and more resilient because of parks and recreation.
The month-long event is an initiative of the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA). The community is invited to share their experiences, memories, and stories about what parks and recreation mean to them.
With everything from day camps, the Columbus Farmer’s Market, parks, trails, playgrounds, sports, and more, residents can be a part of the fun.
Columbus Parks and Recreation and Columbus Park Foundation encourage everyone who supports parks and recreation to share how it has fostered belonging, and why their local park and recreation professionals are important to them on social media with #WhereYouBelong.
A variety of activities are planned for residents of all ages and abilities – including:
- Community Party at Mill Race Park on Thursday, July 11
- Yoga and Mimosas at Donner Park on Saturday, July 20
- Movie in the Pool at Donner Aquatic Center on Friday, July 26
