SEYMOUR, Ind. – Take a step back in time to Indiana’s pioneer days and experience the history and natural beauty of Southern Indiana at the annual Log Cabin Day, this Saturday, October 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge. The Muscatatuck Wildlife Society sponsors this free event.
The family-friendly activities will take place at the Myers Family Cabin and Barn honoring the people who made this property their home. Enjoy learning all about pioneer and farm life in the country in the 1880s.
Activities include live old–time music by Allie Jean and Friends, history storytelling, a Myers Cabin tour, pioneer demonstrations, blacksmithing, kids doing chores from yesteryear, and a free ham and bean lunch home-cooked on an open fire with homemade cornbread.
Log Cabin Day kicks off National Wildlife Refuge Week, October 13-19, when visitors can explore the Refuge’s hiking trails, lakes, birding, wildlife, the fall colors, and the Refuge Nature Center and Nature Bookstore/Gift Shop.
