TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) hosted its annual swimming and diving championships last weekend at the Vigo Schools Aquatics Center. Three Franklin Community High School (FCHS) graduates helped the Franklin College Grizzlies secure a team first place in women’s swimming and team runner-up in men’s swimming.
Freshman Issac Layton, who scored a 15th-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle last year for FHCS at the IHSAA State Finals, scored a second-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle, a third-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle, and a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly.
Junior Nick Coy placed 10th in the 200-yard IM, 9th in the 400-yard IM, and 6th in the 1650 Freestyle.
Junior Jyllian Antle placed third in the 400-yard IM, 8th in the 100-yard backstroke, and 5th in the 200-yard backstroke.
